Post WOW, Big increase in MPG

First of all, I have a 98 4x4 EB Exp. w/ 5.4L engine and 3.73 gears. The only performance modifications I have are a Magnaflow dual rear exhaust and a set of 18 in wheels with Bridgetone Dueller H/P tires. These mods were done about a year ago.
This past weekend I took a trip to Davis, CA (just east of Sacramento) from LA and back. On my way there I averaged 16.3 mpg going around 80mph. On my way back to LA I decided to go a little slower at 65mph and averaged 17.2mpg. Amazing!!! The most I have ever gotten was 14.2mpg on the same trip. I got over 2mpg better. I got to Davis (which is over 400 miles) with a little over a quarter tank of gas left.
The only thing that I have recently done was an alignment. This may have given me a little better mpg but over 2mpg? The window sticker on the Exp. w/ 5.4L even states 16mpg on freeway. I am thrilled. I was also going to put a Superchip in her and an air intake. So maybe I can hit 18 or maybe even 19mpg? We'll see. What is the most any of you have average with the 5.4L engine? Thanks

Robert
