Post adjusting height sensors

Do any of you know if the height can be adjusted? I have a 98 EB Expedition 4x4 with the LLS. Someone told me that they heard that some kind of bracket can be adjusted to change the height of the vehicle. I am not too familiar with the LLS, so I don't know if this is true. I was thinking of lowering my truck about an inch or two, which would help considerably with the handling. Are there any other ways of lowering the vehicle since it has LLS? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2WD, but also have the LLS. I have seen the bracket. It's right by the rear differential. Jack up the rear of the vehicle (turn LLS off...switch under passenger side of dash by kick panel) and you'll see it. From the factory mine appears to have ~2" of adjustment in it. Mine is set right in the middle, so I figure I could drop the rear 1" or raise it 1".

I have not lowered the Expy yet, but from my understanding this is the best and easiest way to adjust the rear. I've also heard of people notching the bracket more so that you have more adjustment capability. I think a 1.5-2" drop in front and 1" drop in back would look nice...and add some good shocks while I'm at it. When this all gets done is anyone's guess, though.

Do any of you know what company can adjust the height sensors? I called my dealership and they said they could not. Is it simple enough that I may be able to do it? I am not a true mechanic, but I am proficient enough. I have not looked underneath the vehicle yet, though. Is it a simple bolt holding the brachet or is it more complicated?

On other thing: Mike, how does one go about adjusting the front since I have the 4x4 with four corner load leveling? Are there also brackets in the front? Thanks in advance

One thing to remember with those air suspensions is that while it's pretty easy to adjust the height up or down 1 - 1.5 inches or so by playing with sensor position, you also hurt ride quality usually when going lower, I don't know about higher. The air bags don't fill near as much when you drop it down just an inch or so, and that seems to hurt the ride.

This same "trick" has been used by a number of us Mark 8 owners in addition to Expy owners, and that has been a typical comment. Of course a Lincoln Mark 8 is going to probably be more susceptible to this than the Expy I'm guessing, so if you do this, let us know how you like the ride, etc.

It should be very simple. I would consider myself an accomplished shade-tree mechanic, but it won't take any special skills to get this one right.

You'll see a bracket with a sensor attached to it and basically a bolt running through the center of the bracket itself. The bracket has an oblong hole in the middle of it. You should be able to just loosen the nut that holds the bolt tight and then move the bolt down to its lowest point...or less, if you don't want to lower it much. Like I said, mine is right in the middle and there appears to be ~2" of vertical play, so I figure I can raise or lower the rear 1" or so.

Granted, I have not actually tried this yet, but I have investigated it enough to feel comfortable trying this when I get some lowering springs for the front.
