Question Inertia Switch ?????

Does anyone know at what impact(g's) does this switch turn off the fuel. Reason is I was
rearended at a stoplight by a drunk driver in a corcisca saturday night. He didnot even slow down(hit us about 35-45mph estimated). My 2000 expy in not even 2 months old. It was a real bad jerk but the motor was still idling. It bent up our bumper, but I can't tell if it damaged the frame. His car was crushed. Anyways it really has me thinking about it. If ford has changed the sensitivity of these
switches. Last week in the News(Houston) a guy in an expy ran into the back of a big truck and exploded(has me wondering if the pump was still operating). Appreciate any info.
Thanks

In 3/97, we were rear-ended by a guy driving a mid-80s Buick sedan. We had stopped and he was doing about 50 (police estimate). His car dove under the rear bumper and hit the rear axle of our X hard enough to lift it off the ground and push us about 20ft forward. Fuel cut-off did not engage.

I spoke with a Jorge Stevens(202-493-0227) at DOT and he explained that manufacturers are not required to have the devices. I'm thinking of incorporating some type of back up swithch or maybe replacing it with an older model switch that I know will activate.
