Eibach Springs Lowering Kit
I was wondering if anybody has ever used this kit or know anybody that's used it.
Eibach Pro Truck Kit - 3597.540 Lowers Vehicle - Front: 1.8 in - Rear: 1.6 in anyone have any photos of this installed, i was thinking about getting this cut to sit lower this is the only kit that I can find that fits the 03-06 Expeditions does anyone know if the 07+ Expedition kits are compatible with the 03-06 because if so I might look into the mcgauphys kit that lowers it 2 inches |
Heh, tell me about it. I was considering getting the kit, but then figured 1.6 inches wouldn't make a huge difference in appearance.
|
i also saw another one that retails for about $600 or $700 and i think i read that it can be adjusted between 3 and 7 inches

One thing I have heard about cutting springs is that doing so increases your spring rate and will make the truck ride rougher. The springs are designed to work the way they are made. I wouldn't suggest cutting them. You may ruin a good set of springs. If you were gonna cut any I'd vut the stockers. Then if you don't like how they ride buy the eibachs and run them.
Have you called the guys at BellTech? They were super friendly when I called them. Very helpful! |

the front shocks are the same between the 03-06 and the 07+ Expy...and you lower these beasts via the shocks usually, not the springs. The shock gets a new lower perch for the spring to sit on inside the Coil-Over
I was looking at the Bilstein shocks and they say you can use http://www.bilstein.com/cart/index.p...id=1848&zenid= on a 03-09 Expy. the rear shocks are the same as well http://www.bilstein.com/cart/index.p...id=1959&zenid= now we need to see if the 07+ have the same coil springs as the 03-06 Expy...if so, then you should be able to swap around their stuff in the coil-over department without any issues |
if you want to do a cheap lower, just install 4x2 shocks.
That will drop you 1" up front, but I don't know how the rear is raised...lift pucks? if so, then remove that |
i basically want to eliminate the gap between the fender and tire, right now i'm running the factory 17s with the stock continentals, when i need new tires i'm planning on shopping around for some OEM 2004-2008 F150 20s
|
okay i read that KW Suspension coilovers can be used to lower the 03-06 Expeditions 2 Inches all around....
this guy used the Eibach Springs Lowering Kit on his 07 Limited EL not sure if he used the kit i was talking about in my first post Stock Height W/ 24s http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0001_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0007_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0008_large.jpg Lowered W/Eibach Springs http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0016_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0011_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0009_large.jpg you can definitely notice a difference because the fender and tire gap is almost elminated, there is also the mcgaughys drop springs for 07+ Expys but it can only be used on 2WD |
Man that is so tight!
|
so that is what mine would look like dropped....nice
|
don't forget he also debadged the whole truck, it makes look super sexy :bows:
|
I am not a fan normally of lowered...but what a standard to aspire to.
|
|
That looks nice

Almost all the gap is gone, mine is a 4x4 - and IMO - it sits perfect now. Ride and handling are far better than stock also.

nice roush rims...but what is the drop?
about 1" front, 2" rear? |

Very nice. Love the stance with the front a hair lower giving it the raked look. I wonder how it would look like with the blacked out 23" Saleens? I am really tempted now. Can you give more details on the parts and install and cost? Thanks and again, very nice.

On the console - yes, from an 08 Nav, installed that last weekend after fabbing up some brackets.
On the Eibachs - 248 and did Bilstein shocks at same time as I'm at 100k - 350 for shocks, 300 for install on those, and then align and caster/camber adjusters and install was another 400 or so. A little more than I wanted to spend but the align is worth it with these tires. The drop is 1.8 front and 1.6 rear on the Eibach kit - with the new shocks I think it's a little less of a drop. *and on edit, ride and handling.. far superior than stock, smoother driving yet firmer handling. |
I had the Eibach springs on my 2003 for five years before I traded it on an F-150 late last year. I also installed Hellwig's sway bars. It handled quite well for 5,400 lb. SUV. If you go through the trouble of installing, it would be a wise move to upgrade to better struts at the same time.
Here's a pic. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...001_edited.jpg |
wow i like how it sits leveled... was yours a 4x4? and the 18inch lariat wheels make look even better
|
It did have a slight rake, but when loaded it leveled out very nice. The spacing between tire and wheel well between front and rear without a load was pretty even. It wasn't a 4x4 and those tires were Michelin 255/70-18s that were take-offs from a Navigator, so it's only slightly taller than the stock 17s were. I couldn't get those Continentals off fast enough. The dealership had to put a camber kit in it to get it aligned, but it drove great. The ride is definitely firmer than stock, but the difference in handling was very noticable.
By 50,000 miles the struts were in bad shape. I bought a set of Rancho RSX struts, but never got around to installing before I traded it. I still have them and they're in way. If anyone is intrested, PM me. The fronts appear to only fit 2002-2003 and the rears 2002-2005. Rancho's application guide shows no difference between 4x2 and 4x4 like the F-150s. If I'm not mistaken these springs were said to fit both 4x2 and 4x4, but that was only through 2004 when I installed mine. |
alright guys i have some extra cash and it's either between the drop or some OEM 20s, what should I do ?
|
Drop. :D
|
You got them photoshop skills, do it up :D
|
but i don't know how much 1 inch drop looks ! but i'll do something we'll see and you guys need to calm down with all :D
EDIT: the cheapest price that I can find the kit shipped for is $260 anybody have a better price I could check out ? |
Anyone worried about spring rates and a rough ride should steer away from eibach. I've owned several vehicles with them and they suck. Installed competitors with a lower drop and had a much improved ride. Personally, I don't think eibach does any long term testing, or they have testers who don't know what they are doing.

There are these: http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...model=EXPEDITN
The only others I've see that make them. And, they're a full 2" :) |

Not sure. Just posting another alternative. :)
|
alright well I guess I'm going lower 2 inches all around  just got to wait until the 14 cause the wife was saying she might need to borrow some money so we'll see what happens
|
For what it's worth Eibach makes a quality product. I've used their products on several VW's and other compact cars I've owned through the years. They make reliable products needless to say.
|
wait ELVATO i was just looking at the springs again and it says 2WD... mine is AWD do you think I could still use them ?
|
Not sure. Call them up? I have 2WD, so I'm good :)
|
i sent them an email, would .4 inches really make a difference ?
|
I sent an email and this is what they said
Edward, Greetings, this is Charlie from STILLEN. Thank you for your email and inquiry on Belltech Suspension. Unfortunately, for your 2005 AWD Expedition, a 2WD suspension will not work. Even though you don’t use the 4WD you still have 4WD suspension. Belltech only makes a Lowering kit for a 2WD Expedition. I have a 2”x2” drop available from Ground Force, which is another Top Quality Suspension Company, but it will only work on NON-AIR Ride Trucks. So if you do not have the rear Leveling system or rear Air Bags I would have a lowering kit available, and unfortunately if you do have the Leveling System or rear Air Bags I would not have a lowering kit available. If you could please verify the rear setup of your Expedition, I can get you more details on a lowering kit. |
old expy's had bags too, the 97-02s I would take a peak under your truck and see if you have bags before you order anything
