98-99 Expedition Lights staying on??

Just got a question re: my buddies 98 or 99 expedition. Whats happening is when he turns off the ignition his dome, headlights and running board lights stay on for like 10-15min's before they shut off? Even though all lights are clicked in the off positions and doors are fully closed (believe so). Any ideas?? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks for any info I could provide him with, much appreciated.

John

Does he use a keyless remote? If so,it should honk once when its locked and all the doors are closed. That would possibly explain the interior/running board lights.

Check on the condition of the system Generic Electronic Module. If you have access to some basic tools you can also clean out all of the relays within your IP Fuse Relay Panel.
The GEM could have been affected by water or moisture getting behind the IP by rain getting around the windshield mount. The GEM can cause strange problems when contaminated. Rear Wiper, Interior Lamps, Security System, Rear De-Froster, Express-Down DS Window operation, and Air Suspension system can be affected simultaneously.

My bet is on one of the door sensors sticking. Do some searching, but basicly soak the latch with wd-40. You can tell what door is doing it if you start the truck, and open the door, you should get a chime. Open and close all the doors till you find the one that does not chime, that will be the one that the system things is "open"
