Blend Door

It has been awhile since I have posted on this forum. In fact, my last group of questions came around when I had to swap my seized 5.4l.

Shortly after I finished that I got the dreaded blend door problem, i.e. the 12 hour or $1200 problem. Well I was not about to spend $1200 on getting it fixed, and I delayed fixing it through all of last summer, which was drag because it was stuck on full heat.

Anyway, as I was poking around this forum, and others like it, bookmarking people's procedures for fixing the blend door, I stumbled upon this thing called the heatertreater. Now I must say that I do not work for these guys at all. I read through their website, and their reviews, and though heck, I will give it a try. At the $130, and couple hours of labor they claimed it would take me, I went for it.

So when I got it I had some issues with the first one they sent, so they express mailed me another. Yesterday I installed it in about an hour and a half, and it works great! I am seriously pretty stoked about it and thought that there may be people like me who are in the same boat. I had no clue this was around and thought I would share it with you guys.

I hope it helps, and I would be happy to respond to any questions from people thinking about it or otherwise.

Here is their website:

From: Louisiana...at least whats left of it.
If I remember correctly, I was able to change out the blend door actuator without removing the dash. The center console had to come out but that was it. It was a bit of a pain and you need small hands but I remember removing and putting screws back in were difficult. Not long after I replaced it the heater core went bad and I had to take the entire dash out. That was not fun.
