Brake Dust

I am sure most expy owners are familiar with the amount of brake dust that accumilates on the wheels. Has anyone tried the after market dust guards and did they work? My wife just bought an '05. Thanks for the help!

Most of us just change the pads to a high quality semi metallic. I put Wagnr Thermo Quiets on at 11,000 miles and have had very little dust for the last 66,000 miles.

Now, if I can only convince my wife. She will probably still want the dust guards

Yea, change your pads. I changed my rotors and pads to Carquest ones, and haven't had much dust since then.

I think that I will likely try the wagner pads for sure. I have had good luck with that brand in the past. Thanks for the reply.

I didn't want ceramic pads for towing, so I went with Kleen Wheels. They are on my 2008 F-150 now, mt 2007 F-150 had them, and my 2005. I never used them on the myriad of Superduties I've had, but the F-150's are notorious for brake dust. My 2008 NEVER has a speck of dust on the wheels. I swear by them.

It looks like there are some good choices for aftermarket pads. This is getting kind of interesting. I wonder if there is a technical article about the brake dust? Thanks again for the help.
