Thinking 'Bout a Used 2008 Expedition EL. Experiences?

So, we are thinking about buying a used Expedition EL and wonder if any of you have one that care to comment on your experiences. Any things we should consider? What kind of mileage do you get? Any of you tow and what are your experiences? Options we should consider, or not live without? Problems? Would you buy another?

Thanks (in advance) to all who reply.

Women are crazy! I asked my wife what she wants her next vehicle to be, and she did not know. She had not even thought about it!?!?!? I know exactly what I would buy if my truck for some reason blew up or was stolen. Women don't seem to care....So I pushed her a little on the subject...she said she would get another Expy, but maybe wanted bigger, such as the EL. Her Expy is an 03.

Now granted, she is not driving an EL, but we have been happy with it. Zero mechanical issues and 75K on the odometer.

Does the EL sit on the same frame as the F150?

Thanks Shinesintx. The DW is a bit picky on color, and pretty much wants Stone Green over Pueblo Gold. I am trying to find a Ford executive return instead of the ever-popular rental return. It would just be a bit more equipped. We want the EL because of the cargo space behind the rear seats. The frame is probably based upon the long bed F150 screw, or one of the F-150 frames, but I'm not sure which one.

Now that we are looking harder, the used values would jump... of course. I'd still like an Excursion, but since that boat sailed, low mileage ones are hard to find at a resonable price. Besides, for the DW's daily driver, an Excursion is a bit overkill.

I want the later Expy because of the six-speed tranny. The highway mileage is pretty unreal at around 20mpg. We test drove one used one on a weekend a few months ago and reported those numbers, too, so we'd be happy. The wifes current low-mileage Pacifica is a great car, but we don't want one long term as our lifestyles have changed a bit, and a new Expy is way overpriced when you can buy a used one with 10,000 miles on the clock for $20,000 less.

Well, done thinking about it. We snagged a 2008 Eddie Bauer Expedition EL. It's a Ford Executive return with about 10k miles. We don't pick it up until tonight, but I snuck a peek this morning on the way to work, and this thing looks brand spankin' new. Stone Green over Pueblo was what the DW wanted, that's what she gets.

I watched the auctions and market too long. I should have bought one two weeks ago, but instead, played the game a coulpe of weeks longer and almost lost. Winter, gas prices, and the end of the year made me belly up about $1,500 more than two weeks ago (I guess), but at least I found one with low miles. I was watching a dozen or so a week with 4k to 5k miles, and then in the last two weeks, BINGO, they all seemed to come through pushing 15k to 25k. Expeditions were going like hot cakes probably because of low gas prices, 4WD season, and this was the last locall auction for the year. I is still amazing to buy a barely used vehicle for the low $20k's that sold new for over $40k. I sure hope this thing is everything we would like it to be.

Congrats... I seriously think my wifes next vehicle will be the Expy EL. I like her Expy, but it just seems lacking in the room dept.
