tire pressure sensor w/ different wheels

hey guys, i'm new. i'll get to my F150 questions later, right now i have a related question. we also own a 2004 expedition with the information center. i know it let's me know about the tires current air pressure. if i wanted to change the rim/tire combo out temporarily, say to a rim that didn't come from another vehicle with this same option, would this have any abnormal effects on the tire pressure sensor?

you will get an annoying message. you can either have the dealer disable the tpms via their ids computer, or swap the sensors over to the new rims like i did.

any good tire installer 'should' easily be able to remove the pressure sensors from your old wheels and reinstall them on your new wheels

Right, they are a one piece unit with the valve stems.

The newer sensors are straps, don't ask me why Ford went with this. But you can always find the valve stem style on ebay. There is a process in your manual for resetting or 'linking' the new sensors to the truck.
