Differential info

Does the Navi and Ex use the 8.8" Ford differential?

There also is a 9.75.

So then it uses both? If it uses an 8.8 I'd like to find out what that one looks like. (Rear)

There was much confusion at napa as to which pinion seal I needed. I tiold the dude my info on the vehicle....still gave me the wrong one. LOL

Thanks, that's good info. Then it would be correct that they did use the 8.8 in the Expedition and Navigator with IRS? That means I need to look for an 8.8" IRS differential. I couldn't tell either from the picture which one that was.

I'm not sure about the 03 to 06 model IRS. I know the new ones come with the 9.75 only. I'd venture to say that the olders are 8.8 just from looking. check out Randy's ring and pinion, I believe they rate the older ones as a 8.8, so i'd be 90% sure it's a 8.8.

Yes, some '03-'04 Expeditions had 8.8" IRS axles, usually if they have a 4.6, they've got an 8.8 in the rear. All Navigators have 9.75s, and so do all 2005 and newer Expeditions.
