Switched 12 Volts on a 2007 Expedition

Hi,

I'm installing a Parrot Bluetooth on my 2007 Expedition EL Limited and having a bit of a hard time finding a switched 12V. I've looked under and back of the dashboard and can't find one.

I think my only hope is the fuse box in the passaenger side but i don't know what wire color will be good for a switched 12V. It's quite a tight squeeze down there and would really help if i know what to look for.

Navigation Harness does not supply one. Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks.

I just installed a new radio in mine and had the same problem. You will need to run a wire from your fuse box to get the switched 12v power. I think I used # 41 or 42 I can't remember but I can check for you later if your still having a hard time. If you have a test light you should be able to verify. I bought a mini fuse tap and ran the wire up under the dash and back to the radio. I had to customize the fuse box cover a little so it would close with the wire tap on it. But you can't see it anyway so no biggie. Let me know if you can't find the fuse I'll double check which # I used tonight and let you know.

MotorPsycho911,

Thanks for the reply, I've never experienced this kind of a problem just to get a switched 12 Volts. I've started looking for that Fuse Tap but my local Pep Boys and Radio Shack doesn't carry it.

This should have been a painless install (should have been plug and play), if i only knew that i would do this extra effort i would not have bought the harness from parrotkit.com and could have just hardwire everything.

In a happy note, wife is enjoying her Parrot Bluetooth because i attached it temporarily to the lighter switch. It just doesn't turn off when she exit the truck.

Thanks Again.

MotorPsycho911 did you run the wire from the fuse box to the yellow wire on the metro harness?

No I just ran it straight to the wire coming off the radio harness. What Metra harness do you have?

I have the XSVI-5520 DIGITAL TURN ON INTERFACE (FORD) from metra. There is a yellow wire that goes to the radio and a second yellow which I think from reading the instruction goes to the fuse box. The harness has two plugs and some thing that is about the size of a credit card and it has a second yellow wire coming out of it along with a couple other wires. I will try to take a picture of the harness tonight.
