Question Howling from the rear diff

I get a weird, subtle howling sound from my '04 EB Expedition which I believe comes from the rear of the truck.

It only seems to do it between 55 mph and about 65 mph. When I let off the throttle (letting the truck coast), the sound stops. As soon as I get on the throttle, the sound comes back. Do I have a major problem in the making here?

I'm sitting at 72K now, but it's been doing it for a little while.

Well, at least it should be under warranty then.

You called it. Dealer's putting a new one in as we speak, after dropping the truck off yesterday. Service advisor said it was a lot of work, as the independent suspension has to all come off too.

And my Ford extended warranty covers it. Would have been pricey otherwise. I'm glad I took it in now, before vacation towing season.

Thanks!
