Exclamation NEW 2007 Ford Expedition and Expedition EL

Wow, that's the first thing I can think of when describing them.

I REALLY like the new front ends...especially with a monochrome paint package. I think it looks super sharp- and I wish I had the funds to transplant one onto my F150.

I read a few reviews comparing the all new Yukon/Tahoe and the new Expedition and everyone tends to say the Expedition edges out the competition. They say they like the exterior styling of the GM more, but overall the Expedition is a better vehicle.

That's good news. Without owning one, I would have to say I would love to get one.

Anyone here have one yet? Any thoughts? Pics?

there were pics when they first annouced it i saw a while back. I finally saw an expy EL the other day on the road. The suburban finally has real competition! And if you decide to pull the trigger on the transplant, i call dibs on your front end parts

I just picked mine up last Wednesday. We absolutely love it. I didn't even bother comparing it with the Yukon/Suburban - I won't buy a GM product at all. We did compare it against a loaded Nissan Armada though but in terms of interior materials and roominess, the Expy came out on top.

I have an 05 Expy KR but have recently driven both the new 07 regular and EL models.

I didn't think they could make them much better but it is apparent that the ride is smoother, dampening out potholes etc, and surprisingly even quieter.
But for the fact I have only 8000 on my KR because I am in the UK much of the time I would trade immediately.......except for the interior color options....compared with the castano leather in the KR they will have to give a few more choices before I am really tempted.

A fellow worker just sold his Infinity Q53 or whatever it is to get the EL. He actually likes the EL better. They needed the extra room for going skiing. The thing is loaded and was not cheap. I drove it a few days ago. I like the 6 speed tranny and the navigation system. Really a fine vehicle.

I thought I was crazy when I tried to build a King Ranch...but they don't offer it yet, do they?

No, unfortunately it's not an option now on the Expy and from what I can ascertain from my contacts at Ford it seems that it might not happen.

I live in hopes though.

But, for some reason the KR Expy just didn't take off like the F 150 etc.

Hey Ho !!

I would have assumed people would love it just as much.

The Expy won SUV of the year in Trucks magazine...it was compared to the new Tahoe, Yukon, and Dodge (what ever it is) and beat them hands down...The ride was better, it towed more, and did the same quarter mile ET although it has less HP and weighs a few hundred pounds more...however, it does a 6 speed transmission which the others didn't have...

If I was in the market for a new ride, I'd get one...

Yeah, it's a great vehicle. You know when Car and Driver and others that have a track record of bias against Ford gives it the nod, especially against a STRONG new GM line....it must be nice.

Hey John -- Does your Expy have the 'Air Bag' option? The one that I drove (and considered parking in my garage) didn't have it and I'd have to lean on the side of 'average' ride quality.

I'm sure that the air suspension makes a world of difference -- just curious.

It makes a big difference! We drove an EL without on some very bumpy roads and then drove an indentical EL with and the difference was incredible. I can't stress enough that you should go with the Lpad leveling option. My theory is that the non LL suspension uses spring rates intended to meet the max payload requirements while the LL version can adjust to differing payloads and, as a result, is tuned for a smoother ride.

I can honestly say that you won't regret spending the extra $500 for the option. I loved it on my '97 Expedition and now my '07.

I just ordered a 2007 Expedition Limited in black.

Currently have a 2005 Expedition that comes off lease at the end of Feb, so the new one I ordered should arrive at about the same time the 05 goes back (ordered it last week and they push a rush order on it).

Went with black this time around with the black/charcoal accent interior. Going to keep the 20" rims I bought for the 05' as I like them more than the factory 20" option. Going to stick the 18's that come standard on the limited on the 05 lease return.

Only options I didn't get were the navigation (I've got a magellen, hardly use the thing) and the air suspension (had the similar variant they offered on the 1999 eddie bauer I had and didn't care for it).

I test drove the new 07 Tahoe just for the heck of it.. and they don't even compare, the expedition is a night and day difference. Heck, the new tahoe doesn't even compare to my 05. Tahoe still drives like a truck imo and the interior -- although nicer than the previous model, still lacks.

Ford really did a heck of a job with the new interior, looks amazing. The ipod jack is a nice feature as well. The new 6 speed tranny is great - I opted for the towing package (even tho I don't tow anything) to get the 3.73 rear-end.

Going to be a mother keeping this thing clean - been a while since I've owned a black car, but in the limited with the matched grill and body molding, it looks too wicked to worry about. I'll now be supporting both chevron and the local car wash, haha.

Anyhow, I'll post up some pictures when it arrives. There's $1000 cash back right now and a bonus $500 loyalty cash. Given the $5K reduction in msrp this year, and buying the car $1500 under invoice, it's actually going to lease like $10 bucks cheaper than my 05' XLT, lol.

Hey Brad....

Sorry I didn't pick up on this for a while, but have been busy preparing for returning to the States early Feb.

The suspension was amazing...the guy who took me out for a test drive got me to drive at speed over some really bad surfaces, and the Expy EL barely seemed to notice, and as I said before it was even quieter then my '05.
I wish I could justify changing the vehicle but with only 10K on the clock I can't and I am thinking of shipping it over to the UK in the not too distant future anyway.
I have never seen a KR Expy advertised over here by any of the specialist American car importers, but there always seem to be a few F 150's around.
