New used Expy...

Well the lease is up on the F150 and since we have had 2 new daughters(twins ouch) to the family...I needed a new vehicle.

we wanted something that we could pay cash for and settled on a used 2000 expy Eddie Bauer. It has 72,546 miles and new- Ball joints, stab bars and the differential fluids changed. I feel we got a good deal @ 11,200 OTD. It has brand new tires as well. Coopers.

I would like to here the good bad and ugly regarding this vehicle soon as I take delivery on Saturday and can always back out. Our mechanic has gone over it and we feel that with an ESP we should be fine.

Ill miss the truck but am happy with my "urban 4x4". Thanks for your input.

Don't **** away the money on the ESP. I paid over $1600 for mine and never got a dime out of it.

11200 ain't bad at all. My Nav still rolls in at 10500 wholesale and its a 98 with 99980 miles on it.

I have had the ESP once and it came in handy on my 98 f150...I get them for cost.

Thanks for the reply though. Are there huge issues with them like tranny issues or 4x4 issues...rear end issues?

I couldnt seem to find a ton of negetive stuff and that definatly influenced our decision.

I haven't heard any real bitchy concerns. Some didn't like the way 4x4 was designed for that year, but other than that the only thing I'd check is to make sure the winshield doesn't leak

Make sure the rear wiper works.

Enjoy the EB. I liked interior on my 2000 better than the interior of my 2004.

Thats a little more promising. This is a very old and well known dealer known for quality.

Everything works. Thanks for all the good advice and things to watch for.

The wipers all work and the windshield leaks like a sieve but I need to multitask and can shower on the way to work....JK

Thanks again.. Ill post some pics whaen I get it.

Just to add, we had the 2000 for 3 years. Bought it with 68K on it, traded it in with 92K. Didn't have any problems with it other than a rear wiper motor and a driver's window motor. The only reason we bought a newer Expy was the fold down rear seats, a 3.73 axle and EB trim.

MPBTIM,,

It sounds like we are in the same boat. I had to sell my 2000 Harley Davidson F150 Supercab when I heard I was having twin boys. I am now driving a 1999 EB Expedition with 75,000 miles. Recently had the ball joints done, transmission flush, new spark plugs, & 2 new coils. Also I have Cooper tires. Congratulations on your twins & Expedition.
I used to be in auto stores, and then it was Baby’s R Us.

Ha ha tell me about it. I know more about baby food and formula than any person should know.

Congrats on the boys as well. It is definetly a handful, I am the one that stays home with them and holy cats....its rougher sometimes than my duty shifts as a medic....

Thanks for the info.

Not a bad deal. I'd get the ESP (or a third party warranty) for sure. The stuff that'll end up going south at this point isn't going to be cheap, especially with a 4x4.

If you go with the ESP (www.fordwarrantys.com) -- I got a discount code you can use (showed up in my email a few weeks ago) code: 77566 -- $207 off any plan you go with.
