I own a 2006 expedition 5.4 liter 4x4. When should i do the first oil change?
I thought i saw 5000 miles for the first one. Do i have to use 5w20 or can I be a rebel and use 5w30 oil?

 

5w30 should work fine most anywhere...even new jersey.

 

As many threads have discussed, you can use what you want to, but why not use what is recommended and if there is a problem later on, Ford cannot point out that you used a different oil and give you a hassle about the warranty.

 

my first question has not been asnwered, how ling till i should do the first oil change 3000 miles 5000 miles ( i thought i saw this in the owners manual or 7500 ???

 

Ford says 5000 miles is ok for all oil changes including the first. It is so dusty around these parts, most people do not go that long. I change mine at about 3500. My dealer recommended 3000 to 3500.

He Mighty, I am down near you. I change mine every 3000 eventhough ford says about 5000. Congrats on new Expedition.
