Engine Rev's! RPM's shoot up then down then stalls!! Help!

Anyone heard of this before... I have a 2000 Expedition with the 4.6, with 6" Fabtech Lift & 35" BFG M/T tires. (96,000 miles)

This has happened a couple times now... I will be driving down the highway (once even in town) and all of a sudden then RPM's will literally go from normal to almost maxed, then up / down a couple times from max to normal..and 1 out of 3 times the engine will shut off at highway speed. I have to throw it in nuetral (carefully) and turn the ignition key, and it will start right back up and act like nothing happened.

Like I said, it has also happened at approx 30-35mph city speed as well.

The truck had its normal full tune-up just a pinch over a year ago.

Could this be the fuel filter, that's my only guess. Thanks for ANY help!

I just ordered a 2006 Supercrew and am getting rdy to sell this, but want to make sure bugs are gone!

The IAC's on Ford's are notorious for becoming dirty/clogged, take it off and clean it with brake/carb cleaner.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and was hoping I can get an answer. It seems that my '04 Expedition is experiencing the same thing. I have 45K+ miles on it and it just recently did the exact samething. I haven't checked the IAC but I would think that if it's the IAC, it would do it all the time but I'm just guessing. Does anyone have a clue?
