2000 Expedition acceleration rumble / shudder

I have a 2000 Expedition XLT (5.4L Triton) with around 74k miles. Lately I have noticed a strange rumbling/shuddering feeling when accelerating from a stop through about 25 MPH. It feels like the rumble is in the front axle area. I put on new tires about 600 miles ago, and didn't know if this may be a factor. Really wondering if it is normal or something major that needs repair.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Well since it seems the other "site" took a dump, I will reply here. Since it is a 4X4, then I agree with the other guy, change the Differential fluid. I would do both front and rear, its about time anyhow.

shudder

Had the same thing in my 2000 expy. Had the tranny flushed and the problem went away. Something to do with the torque converter.

good luck.

I had the same problem with my 2000 XLT 3.55 LS..Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be a bad "GEM" module. The GEM module monitors the "Auto" 4WD system, among other things, and when it malfunctioned the front/rear were literally binding.

I had a rumble noise and it turned out to be the bearing in the front diff. Ford sould have a listing devise that they can hook up andlistento the noise. It took 3 trips to get them to here what I did. I have ear muffs that magnify sound(use them for hunting and to here what people are saying about me) and I could tellit wasa bearing. Lew
