Misbehaving alarm system

Hi - I'm new here, but I'm looking for some assistance/info.

I've got a 01 EB, 5.4 2WD, with factory "alarm" system.
Recently, on 2 occasions when driving the alarm system appears to be triggered. About 5 short toots of the horn sound, which repeat after some short time interval, and the little red light below the steering column begins flashing.

This has happened to me once, and when I shut off the ignition, the alarm sounded.

Any ideas on what is going on here ?

Thx

Check the user manual the dealer should have given you for the codes for a tripped alarm. It sounds like the 5 chirps are telling you what "zone" was compromised, or in this case, which zone may be an issue.

I have the Programming and Installation manual in .pdf format if you'd like a copy. Email you email addy and I'll send it.

Also, you can call the Hot line (number is in the manual) and ask them. They are sharp and helpful, but tend to talk to you like you are an experienced installer so I try to have them talk slow to me!
