need location of cabin filter

i have a 2001 navigator with a smelly cabin air filter//i have a new filter but have been unable to locate the old one does any one know where it would be located??

Passenger side under the dash, in the air handler. Very few trucks actually have that filter option, Ford only put them in a few hundred trucks before eliminating the option.
