Broken antenna

Our '98 has a broken antenna. It looks like the threads just snapped leaving the antenna to be loose in the socket. It only has a few threads left on the antenna. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Have you thought about buying a new antenna?

I just checked www.fordpartsnetwork.com. You can buy a new base. My 2002 had the antenna break off in side. Remove the anteena base cover. Remove the screws holding it to the fender. When you pull the base out it should have a connector to the wire. Just disconnect it and get a new base. I paid $10 if I remember correct. You can get the base at the dealership, should be in stock..

You also might want to order a new plastic cap that covers the base. They fit very tightly, and are hard to remove without damaging them.
