Last night I was going through a red light and my spare cable busted and left my spare in the center of an intersection. Has anyone else had this happen? Can I replace the cable? It looks like the cable wore through.

By the way I have not used the spare in the two years I have owned it and that clanking noise is still underneath without the spare.

I recently had to replace my whole assembly $82 from dealer

 

it has a plastic piece that somehow gets caught with the cable and unwidns the cable, there was no way of geting it lose, so i
just replaced it with one from a local salvage yard.

very simple to replace 4 1/2 inch nuts thats it ...

let me know and maybe i can get you one, if they are asking a far price. i paid 50 bucks for it.

 

I had a chance to get under and look at it. Glad I did, I did not realize the tire was held by a wench.
