New mod!

I installed a set of chrome Eagle Alloy 026 22x9.5 inch wheels and 305/45-22 Falkens on the Expy yesterday. So far, I'm thrilled with the look, fitment and performance. The ride is only slightly stiffer than normal, but overall handling is much improved. I took a couple of quick pics yesterday to show you guys.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I'm so glad I didn't go with 20's. I would have regretted it.

Very nice Wandell. No, you wouldn't have been happy with 20s. 20s fill up the fenders of older Expis but the 03-05s are just right for 22s. Looks very nice. Classy but not too much.

Wandell,

Now I am definately going to have to go out and buy some new wheels. Holy cow does that make your Expy look totally different. Nice choice in wheels! What is the offset of the wheels? Do they stick out at all? Could you post a picture from the front of the truck looking down the side?

I was thinking about getting some new wheels for the truck and putting the 20" crossfires on the Expy. But now I think I need 22's. My only concern would be a harsher ride. With the 20's I could put a little higher profile tire on to make the ride a little smoother.

Decisions, decisions!!!

The backspacing is 6.7 inches, (+40mm offset). I have a couple of photo's that I'll try to get posted. They don't stick out at all. THe front tires are almost even with the fenders, but they don't stick out. Ride quality is why I went with a 305/45-22. I figured that would give me enough sidewall to have a smooth ride. The ride is a little stiffer than stock, but not by much. I think the Expy rides and handles much better now. I'll get some more pics in my gallary shortly.

That looks great! I guess you just made up my mind! 22's it is.

Now I just have to let the wife know that we are going to have to put off getting the spa for 2 months. That will go over well.

What did you end up paying for the rims? I would guess around $300 bucks a piece. I am looking at the series 060 or the series 170. It is sure hard to find wheels with more than a 35mm offset.

Also, how do you like the falkens? I really like the toyo proxes but they are pretty expensive.

Well, I got the wheels from my brother-in-law who owns a local truck accessory store. He sells very few wheels, but he buys Eagle Alloys directly from the factory and sold them to me at his cost (plus shipping and tax). Eagle had them on sale, so any Eagle dealer should be able to get you a good price on them. Eagle runs specials all the time and sometimes have great deals on blemished wheels. The local tire dealer that I normally use found the Falkens on sale also, at one of her distributers and sold them to me for $234 each. I was looking at them and the new Nitto 420s, but she couldn't get me a decent price on them. The cheapest she could do was around $265 each on the Nittos. So far, I am very happy with the Falkens. They are aggressive looking, ride smoothly and quietly and have a 50,000 treadwear warranty.

The new Expys come with 265/70-17's which are a 32x10.50-17. The 305/45-22's are basically a 33x12.50-22. I don't have any rubbing but it is a pretty close fit.
