Iam looking at a 97 expedition but it has over 100k on it.I know that it is alot of miles but i want one because i thing the best looking suv out.My question is can the engines on the expedition last to 200k if you take good care or them.I know every engine is different but i just like to know if they last.

Do a search. There's a recent thread for people with over100K miles, lot of people have many more miles than that.

I didn't even put my supercharger on until after 100K miles...

If you go out on ebay motors looking for Expy's, you'll see some scarey mileage numbers. I think 200k is perfectly attainable if the vehicle was properly maintained up to this point. That's the problem buying used unless you KNOW the person your buying from.

What has been done to it and what needs to be done? Not asking, just provoking thought here What engine 4.6 or 5.4?

I've lurked on this board for quite a while and it SEEMS that the '97-'98's were less prone to engine related problems than the later models...'99-'02. I know that doesn't sound right as usually the first few years of a new model typically require the kinks to be worked out.

Good luck with your purchase
