New Navigator Pilot
New Navigator Pilot
Just picked up our new 05 Navigator Ultimate 4X2 today.
I have had a fair amount of experience with the 5.4 motor, having had previously a 1999 Lightning and am now driving a 2002 Blackwood but have no experience with the 3 valve version and no experience with the newest chip technology.
Has anyone here on the board done anything perfomance enhancing wise with the newer 3 valve motor??
While I fully realize that a Navigator is a bit of a walrus weight wise, I was able to pull a pretty good bit of performance out of my Blackwood with a chip/filter/exhaust combo, probably in the high 15 second 1/4 mile time, in spite of a lot more weight than the Navigator.
Just curious if anyone here has done anything with the new 3 valver as supplied with the Navigator.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Bill And I have to change my sig, I know

Hi, I know that SCT (superchips custon tuning) has done some great work with the 4.6 3V. I'm sure they either have a 4-bank chip out or will very shortly. I'd check out there website or call.
I have a 03 Navi Ultimate. What chip did you put in your Blackwood? Any suggestions to me on how best to spice up the Navi?

For what it's worth I may never do anything to our Navi just because I do like it the way it is. Off the line it's somewhat slow but for a big truck it cruises extremely well. Besides I drive a Lightning for my daily so theres my fun. The ironic thing is I am going this friday to fight a ticket that I got in the Navi, not the L.
Good luck.
Life's embarrasing moments
Minor Update:
The salesman who organized our lease (His business card says he is a sales/leasing consultant with several awards from Lincoln), delivered the headphone sets for our rear seat DVD Player today. Apparently, the theft rate at Ford/Lincoln dealerships for these items is such that they do not ship the headsets with the vehicle. The UPS package even had my name on it.
I took issue with said leasing consultant regarding the fact that the DVD that was supplied for the Navigation System was dated 2003, I have a 2005 model. He called the manufacturer and I was told that I will have a 2005 DVD not later than the end of January.
While I had his attention, I mentioned that the remote button on the "clicker" and the one on the overhead console would not make the rear window on the tailgate "open".
He politely asked me if I had read the Owners Manual and I said, of course. Well..........not all 600 pages or so and when I did I realized that the rear tailgate window merely "unlocks" on the clicker and the console tab and you actually have to physically raise and lower the wimdow.
Given that the sunroof, the third row seats, the mirrors, the rear vent windows, the bloody retractable running boards (which I hate like a passiion) and two or three other items are remotely controlled, I fail to understand why I cannot remotely raise my tailgate window.
All that money and a window that I actually have to raise myself.
Darn

Thanks for the note 93Cobra:
Actually, Mike and I go back a pretty long way. I had two of his chips on my 99 Lightning and am running one now on my Blackwood. As soon as I get some fuel issues sorted out I will also have one on the 92 Town Car.
Since I know Mike gets really busy this time of year I just thought to ask on this forum for a little input from Navigator drivers.
Once we decide who is really going to end up with this one, I will most likely go with Mike again.
