Question 1998 Expy Theft LED Light Question ...

Those of you who have a '98 Expedition ... can you tell me if your "THEFT" LED light in your speed-o cluster "blinks" when the vehicle is off and the ignition key is out???

I have a 2000 Ranger, and the "THEFT" LED light blinks when the vehicle is off and the ignition key is out. I expected my '98 Expy to do the same but it only comes on for like 2 sec's when I first put the ignition key in then it goes back out.

My 2000 blinks. I think they all do. Maybe yours isn't activating for some reason? The turning on while starting the ignition is just a test to show you the bulbs work.

THATS A SECURITY FEATURE, ITS NOT SUPPOSE TO BLINK WHEN THE TRUCK IS OFF, IN MY TRUCK IF I INCERT THE IGNITION KEY TO FAST AND TRY TO START IT THE TRUCK DIES AFTER LIKE 3 SECONDS, IT KILLS THE INGNITION.

CHECK YOU KEY IF IT IS PROGRAMED TO YOUR TRUCK

My 97 Expedition's theft light doesnt blink,, my 95 Lightning does blink, and 99 Continental blinks. The truck and the Lincoln both have factory alarm options.
My Expedition doesnt have the factory alarm option. It does have the PATS key which doesnt let the engine start unless the coded key is used.

A test for the factory alarm is, roll your window down , lock your doors with your key fob, then reach thru the window and open the door with the handle,,, this should set off the alarm and honk the horn and flash the lights,, just like panic.
