Sounds like my problem.
I have a 20004 Expy 4wd with limited slip differential.
Sounds like its coming from the front, but its the limited slip rear diff clutches chattering. Goes away after a couple of miles, right???
They changed the fluid and added friction modifier, helped some but not all. I have an appointment next week to replace the clutches.

I am having similar problems. Last week I had the differential fluid changed and since then I have noticed the rub. Sometimes its pretty bad other times not at all. I am afraid to go to the dealer. They will most likely charge me an arm and leg. Any suggestions?
Mine is at the dealer as we speak. They said that they were replacing the clucthes in the rear end. I'll let you know how it comes out.....

If it is indeed coming from the rear differential area...
If you are out of warranty you can try changing the rear differential fluid, making sure to to add the limited-slip additive, which is designed to eliminate chatter. Or use a limited-slip-specific fluid, which will already have the additive.
Or you can also try just adding some of this additive without changing your fluid.
A bottle is only like $5 at the dealer.
