Can someone please explain to me how to program the keyless entry remote controls... specifically for the 2003 Expedition.

THANKS!

It is right in the manual - the directions are pretty good. I'm not near mine now or I'd check, but all you need is the card with the factory settings and it is a breeze from there. If memory serves me you enter that code, then another key stroke, then your code you want to set and you are done.

Hey RP,

Are you talking about the keypad on the door, or the remote key-fobs?

Ignore me, I was talking about the key pad. If you need any help with ignoring me I can have either the wife or the dog fill you in on how it should go.

All righty then...

I will give it a shot from my 2000 Expy manual:

* It is necessary to have all (max 4) of your remote transmitters available prior to beginning.

1) Insert a key in the ignition and turn from OFF to ON eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the ON position. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.

2) Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unloack to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. If more than 20 seconds elapses, the programming mode will exit entirely.

3) Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.

4) When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn the ignition to OFF or wait 20 seconds. Doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

Hopefully that will work for you.

There are additional instructions for the memory functions (EB only, I believe), so that individual transmitters can access the memory functions on the seats, mirrors etc.

That's PRECISELY what I was looking for. THANK YOU VINCE!

I'll pass this on to my buddy that was looking for that information and see if it works. From my recollection, that was the procedure that we used to program my grandfather's navigator removtes... I'm sure they must be similar.

Thanks again!!!

you can DL ford manuals from here. Click LCOSE when the print prompts come up. Download and save once the PDF is open.

j riggs, on the 95 ford you will find a plug with two pins under the dash above, right, and to the rear of the accelerator pedal. (remembe rear means towards your seat.) You just need to jump those pins with a flat head screw driver, and you will get the lock and unlock function as the vehicles described above. Then you can program up to two remotes.
