Instrument Needles Going Wild

I have a 2001 Expy XLT (my wife's ride actually) and I recently noticed that on start up, the needles on the speedo and tach will peg all the way to the right and then settle down to normal after a few seconds.

Everything else is working great (right @ 40k/mi) - just this one little nuisance. More curious than a problem.

I have read this several times on different sites and everything I've read seemed to indicate once the battery was replaced it goes away.

Do a search---Bob

This is your battery low voltage warning. Change the battery, a no start condition is next!

Concur on the impending battery failure. Lived with the pain of a tow and replacement.

Yep, new battery. I tried charging mine, on my 2000 and that wasn't enough. Put an Optima in it and it was golden!

So now some lucky person has an almost new Optima in one heck of an Expy.

Thanks for the responses. I'm off to get a new battery tomorrow. I was out of town a couple of days and we just completed a trip from Phoenix to LA and back. Good thing the battery cooperated!!!
