Question Newbie question for '99 EB Expedition

Greetings, great site and very informative.

Now that I have the car back, after being carjacked, I have a quick question?

What exhaust would you go with, Magnaflow or Flowmaster on the truck?

Any tips or pointers you all can provide will be greatly appreciated.

You have to be really careful with the Expy. That huge cargo area picks up a lot of resonance with the wrong muffler. I started with a Bassani system and it was unbearable. I swapped the muffler to a Gibson and it is much better. Most people here are running the Gibson.

Ian,
Thanks for the quick reply and info. I did not think about all of the cargo area noise disturbance. I will look into the Gibson's.

Do people go with the single side, dual rear or dual side?

Most people who have the single side seem to like it. I can't comment on the other two.

I had the Swept Side. It's the single that hangs on the factory hangers. Great system!!!

I'm not sure Gibson makes a dual for the Expy. They do for the f150, but I've never been able to find anyone who makes it Expy.

Yep they do. It's basicly the same as the Sweptside, but it has a si/do muffler and both tail pipes run out the side like OEM. Supposedly it's a little louder. An old regular used to have pics posted of the exit.

Sorry, I should have clarified - I meant dual rear which was one of the three options presented in the original post.

Ah, for dual out the rear, I "think" Borla has one but I'm not sure.

I've seen a couple but I'm not sure they weren't local shop custom bent jobs.

One thing I might be concerned with doing dual out the rear of a SUV with a large "backend" would be exhaust soot building up on the back door/glass. Of course if you tow you'd have that to worry about on whatever you're towing, which is why exhaust manufactures usualy have notes about towing and rear exit exhaust.
