Question Adding fog lamp valence

Hey all,

I've been wondering how much work it is to install a Ford OEM foglamp valence? Is it a kit that you can buy from Ford?

I recently bought a 2000 XLT Expy, 4x4, 5.4L, & towing package, and I would like to add the fog lights similar to what the Eddie Bauers and Sports have.

TIA!

- Vince

Lightbulb check e-bay

I did the same thing to my Expy. I got a new-in-the-box kit from e-bay for $128 + $28 shipping! Came with valence, foglights, wiring harness, and "foglight optioned" headlight switch.

Sounds pretty good price-wise! I'll have to do some shopping...

Was it hard to install? Did the kit have instructions?

well, no & yes. the kit was not hard to install and the kit did come with instructions, but... the instructions were wrong! NO PROBLEM though, with some help from my brothers here on F-150online, I figured it out and they work like a charm!

hotrod - I just got my valence, lights, wiring, switch, etc for $144 shipped. Clipped your price by a few dollars. Gotta love some ebay.

...and the dealership wanted like $350, idiots. These are the same people that wanted $30 for the 2004 f150 badges and I got them for $15. I will never shop directly from a dealership.

But I may need some help with the wiring....we'll see

Let me get this right. I have a 2001 supercrew and it had the plugs for the foglights from the factory. Does that mean all I have to do is hook up the new switch and they'll work? On the plug in the dash it appears to have the wht/blk, yellow, and black ( I think thats the colors) wires in the connector. I saw a diagram elsewhere on the site that said they were for the foglights, but I'm not sure if the colors I stated are correct.

The reason I'm asking is I received the wrong switch and I'll have to order the correct one, before I can test it.

I did the ebay thing also, but I bought it piece by piece, and made my own wiring harness, mostly because all the kits I saw had cutouts for tow hooks, which I didn't want. I didn't care for the factory light switch, so Iwired it so the fogs come on with the parking lights, but I have a switch on the dash so I can turn them off anytime I choose independant of the headlights. Got the switch from a Taurus, so it looks factory... got pix in my gallery...

SEMOScrew,
I got the right switch but the wrong instructions. Does your switch have 2 or 3 plugs on the back? 3 is for 99-back. Yes the yellow and white/black are for the fogs. Mine was not wired from the factory, so I had to run the wires from the lights thru the dash to my switch,etc.. I can only ASSUME that if you get the right switch, yours will work. You need to look in the main power box under the dash and check to see if the relay is in there for the fogs(look in the owners manual-it will tell you which location it should be in)

Hey guys....I have been looking at buying a new valence for my F-150. I was just curious how you guys found the OEM 4x4 valence with the fog light holes. I have checked ebay and haven't found much. I would like to buy it all (valence, fog lights, swithes, & wiring) in one purchase. How did you guys find yours? Are there many valences for sale? Also, do you know if Ford ever made a 4x4 valence with tow hook holes but NO fog light holes? I thought they did maybe on some of the 4x4 XL/work-trucks?!? Thanks.

I found mine one ebay, just kept searching for "bumper" "fog*" and "valance" along with "F150" and "F 150"...

As to the cutoust, but no fogs. The truck across the street from me here at work is what appears to be an F150 XL 4x4, and his has tow hooks, but no fogs... it appears to be a factory valance, but I couldn't say for sure.

My Expedition XLT (4x4) currently has a valence with towhooks and no fog lamps. It's a factory unit.... Working on a way to replace it though!

i've still got the wiring harness if any of you guys need one. all that I had to use from my kit was the switch (after the dealer swapped me the correct one for my application), valance, and fogs. The harness was already built in.

I'm checking this weekend to see whether or not I need a wiring harness. I may take you up on that...

same/same

GT-350,
You don't have to get a "4x4" valence, ALL of the valences have the recess for the tow hooks, only the 4x4s are cut out. Mine came off a 2003 supercrew 4x2, fits PERFECTLY! Just drill a hole in the recess for the tow hook, insert a hack saw blade, and follow the edge of the recess, it cuts very easy! I have a couple of pics in my gallery of the valence installed.
