DTC P1324 Crank RPM Too Low

DTC P0728 Engine Speed Input Circuit Intermittent

Check your crankshaft position sensor. Its failure would also explain the P0728 code because it reads engine speed. Could be a short (corroded terminals) , a bad sensor or it may even be unplugged. This would also explain the random misfire because the computer wouldn't know when to open the injectors, or for how long.

I'm not sure where the CPS is on a 5.4L engine though.

Internet search.

P1324, P0728 & P0300 are standard codes. The others you listed are not valid.

Thanks again AjRagno

I did look at Google and had no luck,,But thanks,,makes sense to me,,The crank sensor tells the PCM when to fire the coil packs..

Of course not. That would be like expecting to continue living if your heart were unplugged.

Input from the CPS is a prerequisite for the engine to run.

Insufficient information provided.

Other than the list of codes, you have not provided any other information about what works or what doesn't work.

Divination is not a skill I posess.

Thanks Steve,,

The truck has a miss,,intermit,,no paticular cyc..To me that rules out plugs..Sometimes the miss (misfire) is really bad, feels like a shudder,, hard to explain..P0300 code says random missfire.

Most likely a fuel delivery problem with that particular set of circumstances. Possibilities include low fuel pressure, vacuum leak, dirty injectors/rail, possibly even bad gas.

Other possibilities, give the original set of valid codes, might be a problem with the crank sensor as AJ suggested.

I replaced the crank sensor and the truck runs better..At cruising speed its fine now ( would miss all the time before) but a little acceleration and it misses again..Should I reset the PCM to learn the new sensor ? TIA..
