03 Navi - lost compression
Bad news... my parents have a 2003 Navi with only 3136 miles on it.
Last night they headed out for dinner, going over an long bridge and right before they got to the top of the bridge their Navi lost power. The engine light came on and it would not go over 1k rpms. He just made it to the top, there was no shoulder to pull off, but was able to cost slowly down the bridge, but not without more drama. Cars had to swerve to miss him as they did not see him as they crested the bridge. He was costing around 20mph as car flew by at 55mph. My mother was terrified that they were going to get hit. They finally had a place to pull off and called Roadside Assistance. Their Navi was towed to the dealer and the service manager called today stating there is no compression on the 4 drivers side cylinders... The service manager said things checked out with the Navi's computer and now they have to pull the head to see what went wrong internally. He also mentioned this was the first Navi he has seen with this problem. My parents are really bummed, they love their Navi. Hopefully the dealer and Ford will take good care of them. They had a 2000 Navi before this and loved that one aswell.
I will post and update once they find out. Again, only 3136 miles!
Anyone have similar problems or think they know what went wrong?

Update on Navigator
Thanks for your reply Capt JJ.
I just got an update. They said the secondary timming chain broke on the drivers side. I'm guessing it was just an inferior part (link)???
The best news is, they are getting a brand new crate engine and should have it back by the end of next week. My parents are happy with that. Now lets hope the techs just put everything back together correctly.

Timing chain broken? Well I remember the very 1st 03 Aviator to hit our lot, was road tested and towed back in due to a broken timing chain. Have yet to see this on the Navs though, I'll make a mental not for future reference. I'd call the svc mgr and make sure he or the technician puts at least 50 miles on the new engine for quality control.
