Question 2004 Expedition With 4R75 Trans

I just purchased a new 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer which is equipped with the AODEW / 4R75 transmission. Before I took delivery I had the dealer put it up on a hoist so I can check the undercarriage for damage. During my inspection I noticed that the transmission pan does not have a drain plug.

I went looking for an upgraded pan with a plug on the net and found nothing on the 4R75 trans.

During my search I came across some info that this is the same trans in the new 2004 F-150.

Is the 4R75 a new trans from Ford and will a 4R70 pan fit?

Thanks for the help.....

To answer one of your questions, 2004 is the first model year for the 4R75.

The 4r70 doesn't have a drain plug either. But there is a spot for an aftermarket plug. The first time you have it off, drill a hole and put in your own plug. Of course if you don't do your own service, then let the mechanics worry about it. :>)

all these trannys are still using the aod based trannys, so i am sure you could find one that works. but i would look at it first before assuming this.
