Keyless entry

Anyone have a problem programming a personal code into the keyless entry system? The factory code works fine, but it will not accept a personal code. I followed the instructions in the owner's manual.

I assume that you are aware that nothing will erase the original five-digit code. That code will always activate the system. In effect, you are putting in a supplemental code.

My memory says:

1. Key in the original five-digit code;

2. Within five seconds, press the [1|2] button;

3. Within five seconds, key in your desired five-digit code.

The system will now recognize two codes.

To erase the supplemental code, repeat steps 1 and 2, then perform step 3 using the original code.

Good luck!

Here's the dumb question of the day about this topic!

What happens when the original code is not known?
Is there a way to enter a new code without it?
I bought a used truck and dealer didnt know the code..

** i can see tomatoes flying my way for asking dumb q's!**

you have to have the original code to program a new one. look under the driver side dash to the left,and it is printed right on the keyless module.
