check engine light help

ok took the expe down to autozone and they took out the code for me somthing like a 402 it said the..insufficient air flow egr. so i replaced the egr valve.check engine light came back on???anyone have this problem

No. You might want to post this on the engine forum. I guarantee several of those guys have seen this before.

You have to reset it. Take off the negative battery terminal and turn on the headlights for 5 minutes. Then reconnect it and start it up, the light should be gone.

EGR valves don't go bad that often.

I hate to say this, but you actually need to diagnose the source of the error code instead of just replacing parts.

EGR valves on 4.6 & 5.4 are not very likely to fail most like ly cause of code PO402 is a faulty DPFE sensor this sensor reports to the obd II computer egr flow they seem to be the weak link a common failure I dont think any auto parts store will have them dealer should have plenty

well i did that and the light came back on so gordon what is this sensor you are talking about and does it hurt anything driving it with the check engine light on
