Thanks to all

I have been lurking here awhile because I needed some info on a new exhaust system. Thanks to all who have provided great input as to their experiences with different designs and manufacturers.
I have a 2001 F150 Lariat 5.4L. I went through Big Exhaust and decided on the MagnaFlow SIDO muffler (14218, 14" 2.5 inlets and outlets, stainless) and the mandrel-bent tailpipes (15020 and 15021). Cost including shipping was $188. The staff there was great and answered all my questions.
I had a local muffler shop weld on the parts and only charged $100, including hangers and a custom-bent piece of pipe.
Overall result: a nice quiet idle, great sound on takeoff and start, no noise in the cab, and a big grin whenever I step on the gas.

Again, thanks to all previous posters on their input.

J

Good choice, and a good price for the install. I installed the exact same set up and have probably $50-$70 in hardware. Since you had yours welded I now know stainless can be welded to regular aluminized steel. I will look locally for someone to weld mine on.
