Question true duals on a v6 Ranger??????

Good buddy of mine has a 90 ranger with the 2.9 in it. The exhaust on it is goinf bad and he likes the sound the of it too lol, Says he wants to put true duals on it with Flowmaster 40series mufflers and using stock cats which are fairly recent. I think this setup would sound nice and really help that little Ranger give it some ooooomph. Since he does alot of highway driving going to work and back, he is mainly concerned about how well it will affect his mileage???? will it improve or go down?? Tks guys
