glasspacks on a 97 4.6

Mt brother has 97 f150 4x4 with auto and 4.6 and im going to get him pipes for bda or xmas. i have 2 chambers on my 01 gt and he wants it louder. i have had 2 chambers on a 96 chevy 350 and glasspacks on a 98 chevy 350n and the packs are louder, how would would they sound on his truck 1 pack off the y pipe split inot 2 , or straights for the same price. the way i figure for 200 bucks either way he can add whatever center in/out muffler down the road if he doesnt like, any ideas? opinions

His exhaust exits out the side if it is stock. If you just change the standard muffler to a Flowmaster 40 series it will be low and loud. Magnaflows are not as loud but should give some performance improvement and will be louder then stock.

I'd go flowmaster or magna. I have the three chamber on my 4.6 and that is loud enough for me. I like to hear my music

Thumbs up

I have true duals with 2 1/4" pipes and 24 inch glasspacks. It's a nice low rumble at idle, but not really loud. Once you get on it though, lookout It pops and roars like a stock car. I've considered switching to Magnaflows, and may still do it someday. The worst part of glasspacks is waiting for the packing to burn out,,,,98

Mine was $210 total without the tips, and didn't hurt the low end at all.

98--you need to switch them 24" glasspacks for a set of 8 or 10 inch cherry bombs. Sound will be amazing

It gets a little dronish over 75mph, I think I'll stick with what I have. If I didn't spend hours on end interstate driving I would consider it.,,,,98

You can go to my web site to hear what a '99 with a "y" pipe after the cats sounds like, to straights.

That wasn't the sound I was looking for, now I am running true dual 2.5" straight pipes.

Go with Glasspacks! I've got them on mine and I love them! If you really wanna squeeze all the sound you can out of the truck, get a good set of headers, high-flow cats, and a good glasspack. Then it's Grrrr....
