Which Magnaflow should i get?

Well i have a few questions. I definately want a mangaflow muffler. I am definately keeping my stock tips, and right now my stock exhaust is SI/DO on the HD.

i am either going to do one of two things

1. cut off the Y pipe and run DI/DO
?-will this viod my warranty on anything
?-will i loose alot of backpressure and low end tq if i do true DIDO
?-about how much would it cost?

2. stay with a SIDO and just change the muffler
?-which muffler should i go with?
i want it to be louder than my stock muffler (keep in mind the HD muffler is louder than a regular f150 one) but i don't want to loose my low end.

since i want it to be loud, but still want to keep the low end, should i get the longer magnaflows? (would they be loud enough for me?) or should i get the shorter ones? (would they loose any power)?

thanks for any help.

any input with the 5.4L engine with SIDO or DIDO setup would be appreciated. just make sure ya let me knwo what you have, and the part number for your muffler.

and whats the cheapest place to get them?

thanks

2.5" DIDO should keep your low end torque using the stock pipes. Magnaflow also has the built-in crossover (X-pipe) inside the muffler as a bonus. I recommend the stainless steel (or mirror finish may match your HD better) and it will be in the $100-150 range.

In general, the smaller the muffer size, the louder. The larger, the more insulation and the quieter.

Check out www.bigexhaust.com for excelent Magnaflow prices.

Installation to bolt up the new mullfer, cut the OEM Y-pipe and run new pipes should cost about $75-150 dependng on the installer. This is assuming you keep the OEM rear pipes.

I am considering something similar for my regular 5.4L: cut the Y, Magnaflow dual 2.5" in to 3" out, and a reducer to keep my OEM tail pipe.

Harley#356,
You can add a single in/duel out 2 1/2 Magnaflow in the 14 inch length (part #14218). This should be a bit louder then the stock muffler and better performing. It is also polished stainless. You may need a small extension in front of the muffler since it is probably shorter the the stock one.
The other option is what APT recommends. The duel in duel out 2 1/2 inch muffler. This will cost more and require more fabrication from the Y-pipe back but should also give you more performance. With the 5.4L non-supercharged engine I don't know that you need that much flow. You can click here
http://198.65.157.241/forums/showthr...threadid=94705 to get my impressions on the system I just installed on my 4.6L. I also recommend bigexhaust.com for the best price.

The two key restrictions in the factory F-150 exhaust are the muffler and the Y-pipe. I recommend optimizing both for the most benefit in power/torque. Some people really like the Flowmaster Y-pipe to replace the factory one, but I prefer Magnaflow (for sound and performance) which has a built in Y or X anyway. The factory stainless pipes are of a good design to flow well.

I recommend either:
a) cut factory Y-pipe, using a Flowmaster or Magnaflow dual 2.5" to 3" Y-pipe into a single 3" in/dual 2.5" out muffler and then use your existing tail pipes and tips
or
b) cut factory y-pipe, run the two pipes separate from the cats into a DIDO Magnaflow muffler, and use your tail pipes and tips as they are.

Magnaflow has two DIDO 2.5" mufflers in shiny stainless steel, one smaller than the other meaning a little louder relative to the larger one. #14468 and #14568 Also, check out this thread for more examples. Don's Bolt shows a picture of the #14468. Is that shiny enough? I'm not sure why he went with the separate X-pipe and two mufflers but I guess it could sound different than using the DIDO single one.
