Question 3" Y-Pipe to 2 1/2" Pipe?

I replaced my factory Y-Pipe with a Flowmaster 2 1/2" - 3" Y-Pipe. I had straight 3" pipe dumped before the axle, but lost too much low-end. I had it swapped out for straight 2 1/2" pipe and re-gained some low-end, but I lost some sound and now the 2 1/2" pipe is run about 2 inches into the flared out opening of the 3" Y-Pipe. It's probably closer to 3 1/2" plus, so there was a large gap between the two. They did a good job of welding it up, but I'm afraid there may be some HP hendering turbulance or something going on inside the Y-Pipe now. I know it collects some water because I have a pin-***** size hole at the bottom of the weld where water has corroded through. They should have flared the 2 1/2" pips to closer match the Y-Pipe, but I doubt they did. It's been this way for about a year now and I wonder if I should have some more exhaust work done. While I'm at it...how can I get more sound from my already mufflerless system? Already have the turn-down and 3 1/2" stainless tip.

Rip those cats out! That's the only other thing left to do. Just don't come into my neighborhood! jk, but you gotta consider the fact that it 'could' start to sound like a 'bubba' truck at that point. A deep, rumble sound is fine, but there is a point to where it's just like a Cheby with a blown out muffler too.......... This is JMO, and I've had my loud exhaust systems in the past too, but now that I've tacked on some years, my priorities have changed some.

Had a neighbor that had a very loud exhaust (it was a Ford too). He thought it was cool to rev it up at 1 am in the frick'n morning, every MORNING!!! He's gone now, but it really pi$$ed everyone off.

It's your truck, and you can do whatever you want, but I'm not impressed by a "loud" exhaust system. I'm more impressed by a tuned exhaust that you can hear, but does not set off alarms either.
