92 F150 catalytic converter replacement

I've had my truck since it was new.I have taken good care of it. It has a 302 with 143000 miles. It has Flotech headers,K-N filter and Flomaster exhaust. It looks like it has 2 catalytic converters on it. Can I replace both with 1 high flow converter?Or do I replace both converters? I know different states have varying emission standards.Thanks.

Hi double,

I would suggest replacing both of them so your truck runs the way it was meant to run. However, replacing the 2 of them with 1 big catalytic converter is fine. If I have my specs right, I have a 91 F-150 with the 4.9 in it. It has 2 on the exhaust. The front one is from what I hear a preheater for the exhaust gases. Nothing more than a hollow can that looks like a cat but all it does preheat the exhaust gases so they burn better when they reach the catalytic converter. Hope this helps you
