has anyone every gutted Flowmaster 50s

I heard from a friend that you could gutt Flowmaster 50s and get a much louder sound. I have Flowmaster 50 Delta as of now and I am wanting a louder sound without having to spend much money and also without losing my deepness. Can it be done? How will it sound?

Why waste your time gutting it? Just goto a muffler shop and get them to weld in a straight pipe foe $15. <-- This is essentially what you get when you gut a Flow, and this way you wont have to go through the trouble of gutting it.

Be real careful there- first off, gutting would be very labor intensive, and only hurt you. You world create reversion withing the muffler shell, and a very uneven exhaust flow. That's why they put baffles in flowmasters in the first place.

Now, if you've got a small displacement V-8 or the V-6, be real careful again- you need a little backpressure, and that comes straight from Ford. The V-6 has a backpressure sensor, and the 4.6's torque curve is no longer flat with a straight thru exhaust system. Also, the sound actually isn't as loud as you'd think.

Try a Flowmaster 40, 3" in and out and trust me- you'll wake up the neighbors. Or a Spintech, or Ravin, or what ever. Just keep a little backpressure, and go with 3" if you're an 8, and 2.5" if yo're a 6. Good luck
