dual conversion suggestions
hi folks,
i'd like to upgrade my 2001 screw to a dual exhaust for its 5.4.
i have to commute in this truck so i dont want to get it real loud, but do want as much performance boost as i can get without
and accompanying hearing loss.
the local dealership recommended the borla mufflers citing
the stainless steel as a good option.
given this criteria, i wondered y'all might suggest?
thanks, jackc...

I am running trual duals on my '99 with a 5.4. I have straight pipes with stainless tips (round cut) out the sides. It is really mellow while cruising but she really barks when you want it to. I might quiet it down in the future but right now I love the sound it has.
do you have a crossover pipe?
hi fordman302,
your setup sounds very cool. but you dont have a crossover
pipe in this mix? just straight from the manifold/cat/pipe
and straight back from there?
i was warned about loss of bottom end torque, you have no such problem?

That is before I had true duals. That is with a Y pipe after the cats into 2.25" tailpipes with slash cut tips straight out the back. Now it sounds alot meaner with true duals (2.5") and a rolled cut tip out the sides.
I would get a Magnaflow X-Pipe, to replace the Ford Y/T - Pipe, then get either 2 Magnaflow mufflers or a DI/DO Magnaflow muffler (2.25 or 2.5"), and have it exit wherever you want. This would give you a quiet setup at cruising, and a nice aggressive sound when you get on it. Good Luck!
