v6 FM DF 50
does anyone know how this will sound? and will i loose any tq or hp? i have been reading for a long time and can't come up with an answer, so i thought i'd just ask.
I just had the Flowmaster DF 50 SI/DO installed on my truck (02 F150 4.2L). I also installed the MAC air intake at the same time. I have noticed better throttle response and more pickup from 30mph to 60mph. If I lost any low end torque I haven't noticed. If that is your only concern, don't be scared.

Howdy...
As the previous owner of a 4.2L, I can say if you want sound, DON'T DO IT! A 4.2L sounds like an import truck as you wind it up with a load on it, and pretty raspy with a flowmaster. Don't get me wrong- the 4.2L is plenty of engine, but due to it's particular breathing layout, it sounds very vee-sixy with a free-flowing muffler. If you want performance, but close to stock sound, try a longer magnaflow or perhaps a dynomax super turbo. But for sound, I'd definitely keep it down- it just sounds thin.
Good luck!
