has anyone done this??

Has anyone used the muffler "tips". and made the rest of the cat-back system. Here's my thought. get a y-pipe for right behing the cat. Then bend each pipe so I can shoot the exhaust out each side of the truck, in front of the rear tires. I know this will work on the passenger side, because that is where my stock system is, but i guess i will have to "modify" the drivers side. any thoughts as to why this wouldn't work? thanks.
it would work fine but it just dulls they hell out of your rear rims so if you run any sort of polished rims get out the mothers and a rubbing wheel cause they are hard to keep looking shiny.

Pick up a later model Lightning or 2002 Harley dual that exits out the passenger side...it's a nice "tuned" system. You might be able find one used with few miles for a great price. Watch the classifieds. If I had to do it over again (got the Gibson SweptSide now), I would put the new Harley exhaust on my SuperCrew.
I've always been curious why you couldn't have exhaust out the drivers' side in front of the rear tire. Is it really that dangerous to have the exhaust under the tank? Sounds like a stupid question, I know, but I've been thinking about doing that for awhile but wasn't sure if it were possible. Or safe! Let me know what you guys think because I don't know much about exhaust. Thanks!
I can tell you that it is the fuel vapor that burns, not the liquid itself. BUT, all you need is an ignition source at room temp and then fire.
OR...
If it doesn't explode on you the heat from the pipe will cause the gas to turn to vapor possibly at a rate faster than the tank can vent.
Just a cople of ideas for you to dwell on.
