Finally put the Flowmaster DF 40 On!
After sitting in my basement for about 6 months, I finally put the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series on my 98 w/4.6. The stock muffler finally rusted through! It sounds deeper at idle than the stock but not much louder. You can just hear it in the cab up to about 40 mph and after that I can not hear it at all.
did you dual or....
leave it stock out the back (or side)? i have the 40 series for a chevy 350 on my duals and it sounds sweet (as a couple of members here can attest too),and it,s pretty mellow till you put your foot into it.
I left it stock, cut off the old muffler stuck in the FM and a piece of 2 1/2 inch pipe to make up the difference. Exits out the side behind the passanger side back tire. I need to have someone do a drive by for me, I need to hear what it sounds like from outside the cab. Maybe I can get my wife to take it for a trip around the block......
Everyday I roll down the window and drive down the ally behind where I work, it sounds more awesome everyday! I don't really hear in when I get out on the road after I hit third gear though.
I too like the sound of my flowmaster 40 with side exit. Thats the only thing that has stopped me from going to duel exhaust.
When you are cruzen then you can hardly hear it but when you kick it, all the boyz with the rice burners turn, watch and listen....with envy...

Geeman- I am interested in going the same route you did. I had originally thought of just going with the Series 40 SI/SO on stock pipes. Would love to go duals. Did you by chance angle your dual out the rear corners? I have always liked the look of that.
s/i-d/o for a 350 chevy on my 97 4.6 and it sounds sweet...if anyone in dallas or ft.worth want it installed the best route to take is to go to harrys hot rod on main st. in grand prarie and pick up the muffler. then go east on main till you cross beltline then look to the north side of the street and youll see a&b mufflers there and he,ll do a great job for a good price.welded in with tips, all pipes mandrel bent. i,ve sent a lot of people that way and no complaints
