Help me choose a exhaust

I have been researching different exhausts for my 2002 F150 5.4 pickup. I want something that sound good but don't want to wake up the neighbors,I also two with my truck so don't want to lose any torque. I thought about a cat back system, I have heard that Gibson sweptside are not much louder than stock, Flowmaster baffles come loose and rust away in a year or two. I then thought about keeping the stock pipes and just using a performance muffler. Help me out guys I can't decide on what to do. Let me know what you use and how long you have had them on. Thanks

Which Exhaust

I just recently put the Gibson Supertruck on mine. I like the sound...not loud enough to wake the neighbors...but nice throaty sound.
I did loose some low end torque and H.p. but not enough to get worked up about.

It's a tough decision but a very personal one. You should get about 50 different opinions.

If you go to the projectF150 link, you can hear a sound link of the Gibson Supertruck.

Good Luck,

Rocks

My buddy has the supertruck on his 2001 f150 supercab 2wd.
Thetiny little bit of low end that you :might lose, will be more than made up for on the highway when it really comes alive.

I raced him with my 02, 5.4 supercab 4x4 last night, and ya, I had him out of the hole, but when we hit the highway, he gave me a spanking, I was truly impressed.

The supertruck makes your truck boogie on highway sppeds, it was impressive. I ordered one finally, and will have it installed on mine this friday, I will post a report on my findings.

It sounds sweet too.

I've had my Super Truck for about 6-months and am really pleased with it. The sound is quiet at idle and rumbles on takeoff. At highway cruising speed it purrs like a big cat.

The best part is that is doesn't stick out the back of the truck. I tow an ATV quite a bit and breathing exhaust is not what I like to do. I've had a lot of looks and so far I seem to be the only F150 around with one.

I ordered mine from Summit Racing and had the local muffler shop put it on for $25. Plus they took the old exhaust off in one piece and its now in the rafters of the garage for the day when the EPA bans aftermarket exhausts. I plan to keep this truck forever if not longer.

I just installed the Gibson Super Truck on my 97 F150 with the 4.6. It sounds great, no regrets at all!

Gibson Supertruck

Had the Supertruck installed a few days ago, and I still have a smile on my face.

I expected a bit of a performance increase, but this thing really surprised me, I got more of an increase in noticeable power than I ever imagined.

I love how it sounds too when you step on it. I went through a full tank of gas in a day just because I couldn't control myself, haha

I didn't lose any low end, I gained actually, and I gained a ton on the highway.... this thing kicks butt on the highway.

I'd recommend this system to anyone.

GlassPack

I decided to go with a Glasspack and it is defiantly LOUD. The neighbors can all tell when im coming home . I also did see a big decrease in low end, but it seems to pickup after about 40mph. On the Highway it defiantly is a lot quicker than my stock muffler. I would really like my low end back.. but I dont want to sacrifice losing the high end performace. Anyone switched from a GlassPack to a muffler for this exact reason?

Thumbs up

I put my own system together from various pieces with a flowmaster y-pipe. Absolutely no loss of torque or hp, gained both.

Exclamation Ping Habibi: Gibson Exhaust

Habibi,

I was curious where you picked up your Super Truck exhaust system. I live east of Toronto and was wondering where you got yours. I am seriously considering this upgrade when I get my new F150 (still waiting!) and want to see what kinds of prices are out there.

BTW: Nice truck!

Robert,

A guy who lives 3 doors down from me owns a aftermarket / appearance / detail shop.
He runs the business from his home, and I have since become good friends with him.

Anything you are going to order, go ahead and check out prices, then phone my guy and you will be surprised. He has beat any price I find from other places by a mile, and his service is excellent.

When you are ready to order, email me and I will be happy to send you his name and phone number.

alex-j@cogeco.ca

Regards
Habibi

*** Thanks Justy, you will be happy with it, I'm sure!

Talking

I installed the 2 chamber Flowmaster single in dual out. It is a little louder than I was expecting, but sounds really good. At certain RPM it really moans. I just crank the stereo up.My neighbor told me he could here it when I start it up around 6:30am when I go to work during the week. I consider it pay back for the weekend nights when his wife gets drunk and barks at and with my dog around 1:00am. Which wouldn't bother me, but I don't get to sleep in on the weekends thanks to my one year old who gets up around 7:30am or earlier.
