JBA header install is driving me to drink.

Please tell me that the threaded nut on the end of the EGR tube rotates independently of the tube. There is no way the header will fit in any of the miniscule places that I have to insert this damn creature from Hell. I can barley squeeze the header in alone. I thought I'd read that the EGR tube had to be installed prior to placing the header into the engine compartment. I've tried through the bottom with the front drive shaft removed. I can't get it in through above, or through the side with the wheel well plastic guard removed. I need a beer! Anybody got one for me?

The OE EGR tube nut does rotate independent of the tube. At least I know it does at the EGR valve end, not sure on the exhaust pipe end. I have heard the hooror stories of the header install, that and the price has kept me away from getting a set. All I can say is have patience and try every possible angle, if that doesn't work try again. Sometimes you can try something 9 times and it doesn't fit and that 10th time it just slides in.

As for the beer I have about a case left over from my party and would happly share a few with you.

stang?...

are you still f@#$%^& with those headers....i almost forgot about those, been a while...you just have to get it the area and get the tube on loosly and then mount the header and make the connection on the top and finish the tighten up at the bottom. of course i,ve got a set of the "C" shaped wrenchs and they sure came in handy right there. remember the flange and sit back and look at it from the different angles and it will come to you..good luck

ROTFLMAO!!! Yup! Still with the headers I am toiling! LOL!!! I just went out and hit the manifold end nut with my Ingersoll 2131A on full tilt and the damn nut won't come loose. Does this mean I'll have to spring for a new EGR tube? That gun of mine is supposed to unload 600 ft/lbs in reverse!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHRRRRRGGGGGG!!!! I tried the loose technique you've described....guess I'll have to try that again since the thing is rusted tighter than......never mind. Thanks!

Question

I just looked at a Lightning site that has instructions on doing the install. Is the lightning EGR tube different from mine? The nut on the manifold side DOES come off on the Lightnings.

Edit: The other concern I have is I can't get the EGR pipe tight on the header without the whole assembly facing the wrong way. I'm thinking...new tube here. Unless I use some hi-temp goop to seal up around the flange.

When all else fails, bump up the line pressure to the impact. A flak vest is not a bad idea when you do that, though.

Some WD40 and a flaming wrench usually loosens things up too.

I'm giving it all she's got captin! I only have a 5 hp 26 gallon with a max of 135ish PSI. How can I bump it up? Oh well...the tube broke anyway. So I'll get a fresh new one without the blemish of salt and winter.
