Anybody got a Spintech system???
I was wondering if anyone had a spintech system on their truck. If so, how is the sound and power? Is there any loss of bottom end torque? Is the system good quality? I am looking at getting the complete system that comes with the x-pipe and 2 pro street mufflers. Any help would be appreciated.
I have had Flowmasters, Dynomax and Bullitt (yes, on the same truck, and yes, I'm nuts.) Anyway, I tended to get rid of them due to the low end power loss.
No low end loss with the Spintech! I have the Truck model (there's only one, go to their website), 3" in and out, with the Flowmaster "Y", and a side exit. It sounds like no other truck (very tight and hollowly burbly, almost like the V-10's) and is built like a brick s**thouse. Much better welds than flowmaster, you will find that Spintech is not a new company- they have an unparralleled reputation in the racing community.
Nope, I don't sell 'em or work for 'em, but it's the best muffler I've ever had, and with the Y pipe I got noticable top end power and restored that pesky low end loss I had with the Flow and Bullitt. Ford will tell you that the 4.6L is NOT designed for a complete free flowing muffler. The 5.4 seems to be OK, but the 4.6L and DEFINITELY the 4.2 (you all have a backpressure sensor that will get confused) need some backpressure, which the Spintech provides.
Folks, it not about 5500 RPM power- It's about the whole band, and the Spintech truck model works very well, and sounds great!

Hmm.. I didn't notice any torque loss on my 3" system with flowmaster y-pipe, 3" SI/SO Dynomax Ultra-flo exiting AFTER the rear tire with a 3.5" tip. Personally I think I gained torque and hp.
What backpressure sensor? The only thing in the exhaust stream are the 4 oxygen sensors which only measure the ratio.
If you can afford it, the spintech IS a nice muffler.

The DPFE sensor in the EGR system does measure exhaust pressure. Do not know how much is needed or much about it but I did read it in the Haynes manual while fixing my EGR system.

My buddy just called me and said my spintech was in, I'll get it installed tomorrow. I cant wait, i gonna go ahead and go with no cats and x pipe, once installed i'll take a pic and hopefully try and do a sound file.

Hey there-
The Spintech Truck model, 3" in / out is about $100, depending on your distributor. I think the website has a full listing for your area.
The flowmaster Y was $35 plus $120 labor, including muffler-
Installed with the Y, all 3" pipe and a nice chrome 3" side slash tip here at Valley Muffler in El Cajon it came out to $255 total.
Folks- night and day difference from the Flows and Dynos (don't even waste your money on the bullitt- it's poorly built, heat-crimped crap made custom for a shop here in San Diego, but sold nationally). Great sound and NOTHING like anybody elses! You just sound different from all the other F-150 V-8's.
For all you V-6 drivers, be careful. There's some great performance mufflers like Magnaflow that are fairly quiet, but you might want to avoid the louder ones- you'll sound like a raspy import (I used to have a v-6, and with a Flow it sounded like a damn rice-burner at full throttle).
Oh well- good luck, and I just can't reccomend this puppy enough!

i have the true duel side exit from spin-tech ..it is absolutely amazing!!! i also had a flowmaster and a jardine set up on the same truck and i'm only now satisfied...flowmaster had too much drone and everyone and his brother has one..jardine just sounded like crap ...the spintech sounds nasty...my buddy has the $1200 bassani system on his L and the spintech is very very compareable in sound...i love the x-pipe and the mufflers could very well be built bullit proof ...so definately go for it if your looking for aggressive sound and performance...
I ended up paying 480 installed out the door, My buddy hooked me up . I just got it installed last week and it sounds great, at first i was kindda of disappointed until i took out 2 of the cats and man did it wake the truck up. You can hear the x-pipe working at 1500 t0 2700 rpm sounds wicked.

I spoke with spintech about 6 months ago, they said I could get a dual system with an x pipe for about $485 plus tax and shipping. This would have tail pipes kicked out at 45 degree angles out the sides behind the rear wheel.
My muffler guy talked me out of the spin-tech . He said it would have a lot of drone on the 5.4L motor . So I got the Magna-flow and suffered some low-end loss . Has anyone had drone problems with the spin-tech ? I may just go that way .
