Did you get the Z33 or Z55 installed? 2.5" or 3.0"? What motor do you have? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to mine.

I just had a Z55 installed with a 3" si/so out side configuration. So far I love it. Nice tone. The guy @ the shop said that 33's might be a little too loud. I would tend to agree.

Best thing was I had it installed for $300.00.

Good Luck

BTW it's a Supercrew with a 5.4L

How's the performance? Can you tell if you gained much bottom end or midrange power?

Thumbs up Just put on new Ravin 55

I just had Midas install a new Ravin 55 on my 97' F150 4.2L and so far am happy with it. I just went with replacing the stock muffler, after speaking with the people at Super_Chips they recommended not spending the money on a cat-back system if I wasn't installing headers (performce on the cat-back doesn't add much mor than replacing the stock exhaust). It cost me $115 installed and here is what I've noticed so far:

engine runs cooler,
better throttle response,
Definate increase in torque (I pull a boat and noticed easier starts),
Sound is throatier and not much loader at cruise.

Note: I modded my air filter (poor man's FIPK) to accept the K&N air filter at the same time I added my muffler.

We''ll see how the gas milage is affected in the next few weeks

So you guys like the Z55? I'm still debating what to get. I don't want it to be too loud though.

I have a 99 4.6. Should I go with si/so, si/do? what kind of inches? Should I just get it muffler back? or cat back?

Thanks

had the z55 installed a couple days ago, 3", si/so, left all the stock pipe in place (02 Super Duty, 5.4).

Hate the sound. Going with either a 3 chamber FM 40, hopefully I'll like it. Ugg.

The z55 has this weird sound right off idle... sounds like a piped 6 cylinder? Cruising at 1200 rpm, same thing. Under acceleration, sounds good... quiet at 70.

Update... installed the Flowmaster 40 (Delta Flow) . YES! Exactly what I was looking for. Aggressive growl, not quiet, not loud. No cab drone. Sounds great! Not quite as loud as the z55, but a deeper/mellower tone.

Does anyone have any sound clips for the Z55 on a 4.2L? I am looking around and was going to get one on mine. There seems to be plenty of sound clips for the V8's with flowmasters, gibsons etc but nothing on the 6's.
Thanks

Well, heard my first drive-by with the Flowmaster... ACK! SAme thing as the Ravin. I really wish I could determine what in the system is causing this weird sound. I should have stuck with the Ravin, at least it had good bottom end, way more than the Flowmaster.

I have a 4.2l v6 with a 2-chamber Flowmaster 40 si/do muffler with 2-1/4" pipes exiting the rear with 3-1/2" x 18" chrome tips. The sound is great. It has a nice rumble at idle, and aggressive on take off. And is hardly noticable at cruising speeds. It still sounds like a v6 though. I've had good comments on the sound of my exhaust from other people. Considering it's a v6. But hey, it beats the stock exhaust to pieces. Sorry, no sound clips.

I have a 2002 FX4 Screw, 5.4, Ravin Z55 si/so, MAF intake, and Superchip. I also had the z55 on a 2000 screw and it seemed louder than when on my 2002.

Talking Ravin'

I have a '99 Ford F150 XL Sport with a 4.2L I had the Ravin' Z-33 put on my truck with SI/DO with 2.5 inch pipe till you get to the chrome exhaust tips. 6 in tips that are 24 inches long... Do I like my Ravin' Hell Yeah, all my friends and family can tell my truck from anyone else by the sound... I really love it, maybe you should look at a Ravin' Z33 next time
